J1 Intern eligibility 

• Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a degree at a post-secondary academic institution outside of the US

  OR 

• Have graduated from one less than 12 months before the start date of the J1 Visa Program 

• Finished at least 1 year of the degree program and completed sufficient academic coursework before the start of the program in order to be sufficiently prepared for internship in the US 

• Internship directly related to the academic field of study 

 J1 Trainee eligibility  

• Must currently hold a degree from a post-secondary institution outside of the US and have at least one year of employment in your occupational field outside the US

           OR

• Have more than five years of work experience in your field outside of the US 

• Training program directly related to occupational field/work experience 

Application Process for Participants 

1. 1. Review participant eligibility requirements  

   2. Screening by EACC 

   3. Get an invitation from EACC Texas for the application portal 

   4. Start J1 Visa Application 

   5. Review of Application 

   6. Interview with EACC Texas 

   7. Approval, embassy and plan for arrival
